JEE Mains 2020 Pattern- Complete Details of Paper 1 and Paper 2 

 

NTA has made some changes to the JEE Main Exam Pattern. As per the new exam pattern, JEE Main will now be conducted in three papers i.e. Paper I (for B.E./B.Tech.), Paper II (for B.Arch.) and Paper III (for B.Planning) instead of two. Paper 1 is for B. Tech/ B.E. aspirants, Paper 2 is for architecture students and Paper 3 is for B.Planning candidates.

 

The paper 1 of JEE Mains will have questions from three subjects- Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. Whereas the paper 2 consists of Aptitude Test, Mathematics & Drawing Test and paper 3 includes Aptitude Test, Mathematics & Planning Based test. The JEE Main Exam Pattern 2020 has been released by NTA.

JEE Mains 2020 Exam Modes- Offline or Online?

 

As per the JEE Mains pattern, JEE Main Exam for Paper 1 and Paper 3 will be conducted online while the mode of Paper 2 will be online (for part I & part II) as well as offline (for part III).

 

Aspirants can apply for all three papers if they want.

If you are interested in only Engineering Entrance exam, then select paper 1.

You can opt only for the online mode for Paper 1.

If you are interested in Architecture entrance exam, then you can select paper 2.

You can opt online and offline mode for Paper 2.

If you are interested in both (engineering and architecture entrance test), then select paper 1 and paper 2 both.

If you are interested in B.Planning entrance exam, then you can select paper 3.

You can opt only for the online mode for Paper 3.

JEE Main Exam Pattern 2020- Paper 1

 

The JEE Main Paper Pattern for paper 1 which is conducted for admission into B. Tech/ B.E courses in IITs, NITs, GFTIs is explained below.

* 20 questions will be Multiple Choice Questions and 5 questions will be answered with a numerical value (For all sections).

The JEE Main 2020 Pattern  – Paper 1 will be in English and Hindi. However, for examination centers cities in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Nagar Haveli, the question paper will be available in Gujarati.

The Marking Scheme of JEE Mains 2020 Paper 1 is explained below:

For every correct answer, 4 marks will be awarded to the candidates.

1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect response for MCQs whereas there is no negative marking for incorrect response for NAT Questions.

There is no negative marking for unanswered questions.

The duration of the exam will be 3 hours (180 minutes). For PWD category, the candidates with 40% or more disability, will be given 1-hour extra time.

 

 

JEE Main Paper Pattern 2020- Paper 2 & Paper 3

 

The JEE Main Exam Pattern for Paper 2 & Paper 3 is explained below. JEE Mains Paper 2 is conducted for admission into B. Arch where as Paper 3 is organized for B. Planning courses.

 

For B.Arch -

* 20 questions will be Multiple Choice Questions and 5 questions will be answered with a numerical value (Form Part 1 - Mathematics).

According to JEE Main Pattern, JEE Mains 2020 Paper 2 will be conducted in English and Hindi. However, for examination centers cities in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Nagar Haveli, the question paper will be available in Gujarati.

The JEE Main Paper Pattern - Paper 2 (Part 1 and 2) will be of objective type and numerical value based. In MCQs, four options will be provided for each question and out of these four options, only one is the correct answer. If for any question, more than one answer is marked, then it will be treated as the incorrect response.

In Part 3 of B.Arch, questions will be based on the drawing. Candidates have to use colour pencils or crayons only on the drawing sheet.

Part 3 of B.Planning also have MCQs type questions like Part 1 & Part 2.

The JEE Main Paper 2 Marking Scheme is explained below.

In Part 1 and 2, for each correct response, 4 marks will be awarded. In Part 3, the two questions will carry 100 marks. (For B.Arch)

In all parts, for each correct response, 4 marks will be awarded. (For B.Planning)

1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect response for MCQs whereas there is no negative marking for incorrect response for NAT Questions.

There is no negative marking for unanswered questions.

For drawing section, marks will be allotted on the basis of drawing skills. (For B.Arch)

The duration of the exam will be 3 hours (180 minutes). For PWD category, the candidates with 40% or more disability, will be given 1-hour extra time.

 The paper carries Multiple choice questions. Drawing test will be subjective.

JEE Mains Exam Pattern - Changes from JEE Mains 2019 onwards

 

There were the points related to the New changes from JEE Mains 2019 onwards. 

 

From 2019 onwards, the JEE Mains Exam is conducted in January and April (twice in a year). The best marks among the tests will be counted for All India Ranking.

JEE Main exam is divided in three papers instead of two.

JEE Mains Exam would be online for Paper 1 & Paper 3 and offline for Paper 2.

 JEE Main 2020 will be held in English, Hindi and Gujarati languages only.

 National Testing Agency will conduct the JEE Main 2020 Exam as it conducted JEE Mains 2019.

Digital/scanned copy of the signature of Father/Mother/Guardian of the candidates has to be uploaded in the application form.

 The candidate who scores more than 75% marks in their 12th class will be given admission to IITs/ NITS/ IIITs according to JEE Main or JEE Advanced Marks.

For reserved category candidates, minimum 65% is required.

 In the criteria set for the rank calculation, no weightage will be assigned to the marks obtained in the class 12th marks.

This means the calculation of rank will be done purely on the basis of the marks scored by the candidates in JEE Mains 2020.

 

 

Instructions for Use of Test Booklet and Answer Sheet (Pen and Paper Based Mode)

 

The candidates need to follow some instructions while appearing for JEE Mains 2020. The instructions for the use of answer sheets and test booklets are provided below.

 

 The candidates are instructed to open the seal of answer sheet after the announcement by the invigilator and verify the serial number and series of test booklet with that of OMR Sheet.

 The answers and details on answer sheet are to be filled with Black / Blue ball point pen only. Use of pencil is strictly prohibited. 

 A light or faintly darkened circle is a wrong method of marking and liable to be rejected by the Optical Scanner. So, the circle should be properly darkened.

 No change of answers is allowed once marked. So, the candidates must satisfy themselves before darkening any circle.

Use of eraser or white/correction fluid on the Answer Sheet is not permissible as the Answer Sheets are machine gradable and it may lead to wrong evaluation.

    I am a UG physics student .I want to study further so I decite to write the jam exam .my question is I only give physics in paper 1 or I have to write the phy,che and maths.
