What is the Difference Between NATA & JEE Mains Paper 2?


For admission in 5-years architecture courses, there are two predominant entrance exams in India – JEE Mains Paper 2 & NATA (National Aptitude Test for Architecture).

JEE Mains Paper 2 Eligibility Criteria 2018



Eligibility Criteria for JEE Mains Paper 2 & Paper 1 is same. The qualification criteria to appear in the JEE Mains exam 2018 is:


12th Class/Equivalent Exam Passed Out Candidates in the year 2016 or 2017. Candidate must have passed the exam in desired 5 subjects including Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as compulsory subjects.


12th Class/Equivalent Exam Appearing Candidates in 2018.


Diploma Holders who have already passed or are in their final year of pursuing Degree.

JEE Mains 2018 Paper 2 Important Dates & Notifications



The schedule & important dates for JEE Main Paper 2 exam has been announced by CBSE. Here we have enlisted the tentative dates for JEE Mains Paper 2 Online Application Form, Admit Card & Result.

The result for JEE Mains Paper 2 is released separately from Paper 1.

As the Paper 2 is in offline mode only, the exam will be conducted on 8th April from 13:00 to 17:00 hours. On the Exam day JEE Mains Paper-2 test booklet will be distributed on 13:50 Hrs. After reading the instructions carefully, candidates can break the seal of the booklet after 5 minutes. The entry will be closed after 14:00 Hrs.




JEE Mains paper 2 Exam Pattern 2018



JEE Mains Paper consists of two papers – paper 1 & 2. Both the papers have a different paper pattern.


Paper 1 has three subjects namely: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. There are overall 90 questions. Exam duration is 3 hours.


Paper 2 has three sections called – Mathematics, Aptitude, and Drawing test. Exam duration for paper 2 is 3 hours. There are total 82 questions in the paper.

JEE Mains Paper 2 Syllabus 2018 for B.Arch:

JEE Mains Paper 2 Analysis 2017



Paper 2 contains 3 parts: mathematics, aptitude test, and drawing test. Total of 82 questions were asked in JEE Main 2017 Paper 2, which carried 390 marks. The exam was lengthy and difficult.


Each correct answer will give 4 marks and ¼ mark for that question will be deducted for each incorrect answer.


There were 2 drawing questions containing total 70 marks.



Mathematics section


Mathematics section was the toughest section among these three. Standard of the paper was high. The questions were not difficult if one should know the trick. Some of the questions were also asked from the NCERT/CBSE 11th & 12th course.



Aptitude Section


There was a change in the pattern of the Aptitude section this time. Some questions like counting surfaces or counting shapes were removed and in place of these questions, some more easy questions were added. The GK part of aptitude was manageable.



Drawing Section


Drawing Section of the JEE Mains Paper 2 was lengthy and difficult. In Question-1A, applicants were free to draw in any way (Using any number of shapes, any alignment), unlike last year when there were certain guidelines for using specific shapes and the numbers.

The result of JEE Mains Paper 2 is released separately after the announcement of JEE Main Paper 1 result.  JEE main result is rolled out over one month after the test. However, after the announcement of conducting CBSE JEE Mains in online mode, we can speculate earlier announcement of the result in 2018.

In B.Arch all top School of Planning & Architecture and NITs close their ranks at 3000. If you want to get into top School of Planning & Architecture, you’ll need an AIR of within 500.
