What is the Difference Between NATA & JEE Mains Paper 2?


For admission in 5-years architecture courses, there are two predominant entrance exams in India – JEE Mains Paper 2 & NATA (National Aptitude Test for Architecture).

JEE Mains Paper 2 Eligibility Criteria 2019


Eligibility Criteria for JEE Mains Paper 2 & Paper 1 is same. The qualification criteria to appear in the JEE Mains exam 2019 is:


12th Class/Equivalent Exam Passed Out Candidates in the year 2017 or 2018. Candidate must have passed the exam in desired 5 subjects including Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

12th Class/Equivalent Exam Appearing Candidates in 2019.

 As per the latest notification, the candidates must have passed 10+2 with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also 50% marks in aggregate their CBSE Class 12th Result 2019.

Diploma Holders who have already passed or are in their final year of pursuing Degree.

As the JEE Paper 2 was in Offline and Online mode, the exam was conducted on 07th April 2019 in two shifts (9.30 am to 12.30 pm) & (2.30 to 5.30 pm). For nearly 1.4 lakh candidates the JEE Main Paper 2 was conducted at 390 exam centers across country and at 6 abroad exam centers.




JEE Mains Paper 2 Exam Pattern 2019


JEE Mains Paper consists of two papers – Paper 1 & 2. Both the papers have a different paper pattern.


Paper 1 has three subjects namely: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. There are overall 90 questions. Exam duration is 3 hours.


Paper 2 has three sections called – Mathematics, Aptitude, and Drawing test. Exam duration for paper 2 is 3 hours. There are total 83 questions in the paper.

JEE Mains Paper 2 Syllabus 2019 for B.Arch:

JEE Mains Paper 2 Analysis 2019


JEE Mains Paper 2 Exam has successfully been conducted on 07th April 2019. Paper 2 was conducted in two phases: Phase I (9:30 AM to 12:30 PM) and Phase II (2:30 PM to 5:30 PM).

The exam contains 3 sections: Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test. Total of 83 questions were asked in the JEE Main 2019 Paper 2, which carried 390 marks.

As per the JEE students reviews, the Mathematics Section was the toughest one while the Aptitude section was a bit tricky. This year 3 Questions were asked in the Drawing section.

Each correct answer will give 4 marks and ¼ mark for that question will be deducted for each incorrect answer.



Mathematics section


Mathematics section was the toughest among all the three sections. Most of the questions were from Calculus. Questions asked in this section were completely different from the January Exam.

There were mixed reactions from the students. Some said this section was difficult and some concluded that the paper was as expected.




Aptitude Section


The difficulty level of the exam was Easy. The Questions were tricky. 10-15 questions were asked on GK and location of places with architectural importance.

This section consists of 50 questions carrying 4 marks each. The Aptitude section was the easiest among all as per the student’s reactions.




Drawing Section


Drawing section of the JEE Main Paper 2 was lengthy but was easy. The Drawing section consists of 3 Questions carrying a total of 70 marks. First question of this section was of 30 marks while the other two questions were carrying weightage of 20 marks each.

In the first questions, the students were tested with their creativity and imagination. They were asked to make something out of a cube.

The second Question was quite complicated, a flower was given and the students had to draw a replica of it.

In the last Question of Drawing section, students had to draw a rear view of professor teaching a class of students.

How to Prepare for Paper 2 in JEE Mains 2019 – Tips to Get Better Marks in Aptitude & Drawing Test


There are approximately 850 B. Arch/ B. Planning seats in various NITs/ Architecture institutes that accept JEE Main Scorecard. In B.Arch all top School of Planning & Architecture and NITs close their ranks at 3000. If you want to get into top School of Planning & Architecture, you’ll need an AIR of within 500.


JAB (JEE Admission Board) declares All India Ranks of JEE Mains Candidates in the Rank list every year. These candidates can apply for the admission in colleges under JEE Mains Paper 1 & Paper 2.
