1. Vacancies


Right now there is no such official notification about the number of vacancies for RBI Career 2018. If you look at the record, for the year 2017, there were 145 vacancies, for 2016 – 163 and for 2015- 134 vacancies were there.




2. Eligibility Guidelines


Any Graduate who has passed his degree with at least 60% Marks (General/OBC) or 50% Marks (ST/SC/PWD) are eligible for this exam. Along with this he/she should have age between 20-30 years (as on 1st May 2018).


Age Relaxation Criteria is valid only for reserved categories and PWD Candidates of all categories.

3. No. of Attempts


Candidates from General category cannot appear in RBI Grade B Officer Exam for more than 6 times. However, candidates from SC/ST/OBC/PWD do not have such limitation to appear in the RBI Jobs Exam.



4. Exam Pattern


The Grade B Exam is conducted in two phases i.e. Phase-I (Preliminary Exam) and Phase-II (Main Exam).

5. Selection Criteria


Since RBI provides immense benefits to its employees, it is obvious that the selection procedure will be tough as compared to other central and state banking exams. RBI Grade B Officer Exam is precisely one of the difficult competitive exams.

After clearing the Prelims and Mains Examination consecutively, the final selection will be done based on the performance of candidates in Phase-III i.e. the Interview Round.




6. Salary and RBI Bank Job Benefits


In RBI, a good salary is not the only perk you will be enjoying. With a Basic salary of INR 35,150 per month and a gross salary of around INR 67,000 per month, RBI offers many more benefits to its employees such as Residence Allowance, Medical Allowance, Travel Allowance etc.

The RBI Job Notification for Assistant Exam is yet to be announced for 2018-9. For the year 2017, the total number of vacancies were 623 and for the year 2016 – 610 vacancies were there.




2. Eligibility Guidelines


The Graduates who have completed their degree with at least 60% Marks (General/OBC) or 50% Marks (ST/SC/PWD) are eligible for this exam. They also must ensure that their age should lie between 20 to 28 years as on 8th Nov 2018.

4. Selection Criteria


The candidate must pass through three stages i.e. Pre-exam, Main Exam and the Interview. After clearing the Prelims and Main Exam consecutively, the final decision will be made based on the candidate’s performance in Interview.




5. Salary Structure & RBI Jobs 2018 Benefits


Being inferior in the position of Assistant, salary benefits are comparatively less than Grade B Officer.


The basic salary of an Assistant in the Reserve Bank of India is INR 8040 per month which is less as compared to the grade pay of Grade B Officer.


The gross salary is about INR 24,500 per month for the Assistant post. Along with these salary benefits, the banking authorities also provide the benefits of Residence Allowance, Medical Allowance, Travel Allowance etc.




6. Promotions and Career Growth

A). Seniority Level Based 

After completing 10 years as RBI Assistant, the employee will get promoted to Special Assistant after which they will be eligible for the Senior Assistant post.



B). Merit-Based 

After completing 5 years successfully, an Assistant will be eligible to fight the Departmental Examination for promotion through which he can be promoted to Grade-A Officer or Assistant Manager.

The RBI Job Notification for PhD holders is yet to be announced for 2018-19. According to the record, for the year 2017, there were 3 vacancies (one for each category i.e. Gen, OBC and SC) for PhD candidates.




2. Eligibility Guidelines


Candidate’s PhD must be completed by 31st July 2018. The organization will also look at the interest and expertise in related areas. High-quality research potential and communication skills of international standards are essential.

3. Selection Procedure


To get recruited on Research Positions, PhD candidates will go through interviews conducted by the Screening Committee of the Reserve Bank of India.


4. Salary Structure & Job Perks


With a basic salary of INR 42,150 per month and a gross salary of INR 82,745 per month, Research position is the highest paid job in RBI.


Apart from the salary benefits, the researcher will also be eligible for Dearness Allowance, Local Compensatory Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Special Allowance, and Grade Allowance offered by the Organization.

Legal Consultant Job for Experienced Professionals

1. Job Profiles  Legal Consultant Post is mainly for the professionals from law stream.


The people working as Legal Consultant in Grade F, serve as Legal Advisors whereas the Legal Consultants in Grade C/D serve as Assistants/Deputy Legal Advisors in the RBI.


The contract will be for three years for both the posts.

2. Vacancies


There is no official RBI Job Notification has been announced yet for the year 2018-19. For the year 2017, following number of rbi vacancies were there for the experienced professionals :



For Legal Consultants in Grade F - 2 Vacancies (Unreserved*)


For Legal Consultants in Grade C/D - 3 Vacancies (Unreserved*)



Note - Candidates cannot claim reservation for these posts.




3. Eligibility Guidelines


To become a Legal Consultant in the Reserve Bank of India, candidates must have following Educational Qualifications –



A bachelor’s degree in Law recognized by the Bar Council of India for enrollment as an Advocate with a minimum of 50% marks.


 Post Graduate Degree in Law from a Recognized University. 


Apart from these criteria, they must age between 45-55 for Grade F Post and 30-40 years for Grade C/D Posts as on 1st July 2018.



As this job is for Experienced ones, so, we’ve listed the Experience Criteria below - 


A). For Grade F: 1. Essential Criteria – At least 15 years’ Experience as any of the followings –


(i). Advocate in the High Court/Supreme Court


(ii). Law Officer in the Legal Department of a large Bank/Financial Institution /Statutory Corporation


(iii). Law Officer in the Legal Department of Central/State Government


(iv). Associate Partner in a reputed Consultancy Firm providing Legal Advices.




2. Desirable - Experience in Taxation laws, International laws, laws relating to Banking, Payment Systems, Forex, and Cyber / IT Laws.




B). For Grade C/D:


Likewise, the Grade F Criteria, everything is similar in Grade C/D except the fact that in Grade F, candidates must have 15 years of Experience whereas, in Grade C or D, they must have 7 years of Experience.


4. Selection Procedure


There will be interviews conducted by Screening Committee of the organization for the recruitment of candidates on any of these positions.

5. Salary Structure & Job Perks

For Grade F – INR 53.43 Lakh per Annum


 For Grade C/D – INR 26.26/35.58 Lakh per Annum.

Apart from offering various Career Opportunities to Job Seekers, the Reserve Bank of India also offers Internships to the College Students.


The young individuals who are currently studying in colleges and wish to pursue PhD in Economics, Banking, Finance, or related fields can apply for these Internship Programs.


Each year, the Reserve Bank of India conducts interviews (twice a year-January and July) to select at least 10 skilled students to benefit with these Internships.


Based on their qualifications, these selected interns can be placed in any of these departments -



Department of Statistics and Information Management(DSIM) - Post Graduate in Statistics/Econometrics/Economics or BE/B.TECH (Computer) or MBA (Finance).


 Department of Economic and Policy Research (DEPR) - Post Graduate in Economics, Banking, Finance, or MBA (Finance).  Strategic Research Unit (SRU) – B. TECH or B.E. or Post Graduate with Quantitative-Oriented Degrees in Economics, Finance or Statistical Science or those with expertise in Computer or Data Analytics.


Programming skills or ability to acquire them are necessary.
