In SSC CHSL Exam, the post of assistant is divided into two categories.
Postal Assistant (PA)
Sorting Assistant (SA)
Postal Assistants are posted in various post offices situated in towns or remote areas. They collect mail bags from the mail motor and dispatch the same to the customers.
Sorting Assistants work in shifts like 6 am to 2 pm, 2 pm to 10 pm and 6 pm to 6 am. The latter shift has 12 hours in it. If you take the night shift, you will have to work every alternative night.
After 6 pm, each hour is calculated as 1 hour 20 minutes. So, 6 hours, from 6 pm to 12 midnight is equal to 8 hours and 12 midnight to 6 am is another 8 hours. So, in a night shift, your work profile is credited with 16 hours of work.
