What is SSC Stenographer Exam?

 

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the SSC Stenographer Exam to recruit the candidates for the post of Stenographer Grade C and D in central government organizations. Here is a brief description of the responsibilities and roles of a Stenographer:

Press Conference Briefings.

Perform Speech Writing of the Speech given by the senior officer.

May assist the Minister or Officer.

SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria

 

The Staff Selection Commission has fixed some factors on which a candidate is decided whether he/she will be eligible for the exam or not.

So, below are all the factors on which the SSC Stenographer Eligibility is decided:

1. Nationality

 

A candidate must be either:

(a) a citizen of India, or

(b) a subject of Nepal, or

(c) a subject of Bhutan, or

(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

 

 

2. Age Limit

 

For Stenographer Grade ‘C’: The minimum age for a candidate to give the exam is 18 and maximum age is 30 years as on 01st January 2019 (i.e. candidates born on or after 02nd January 1989 and born before or on 01st January 2001).

For Stenographer Grade ‘D’: The minimum age for a candidate to give the exam is 18 and maximum age is 27 years as on 01st January 2019 (i.e. candidates born on or after 02nd January 1992 and born before or on 01st January 2001).

3. Educational Qualification

 

Candidates who have passed 12th Class or equivalent exam from a recognized Board or University are eligible to give the SSC Stenographer 2019 Exam.

Candidates who are appearing in their 12th Class are also eligible to take the SSC Stenographer Exam.

 

 

 

SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2019 Process

 

After getting aware of the complete eligibility criteria it’s now time to check the selection process of SSC Stenographer. You should know all the process that you should be going through to prepare yourself accordingly.

The process of SSC Stenographer Recruitment consists of two phases: Computer Based Examination and Skill Test.

 

 

Phase 1: Computer Based Examination

 

Eligible candidates will be called for the Computer Based Examination. In this stage, the candidates have to answer the Multiple Choice Questions. Based on the marks obtained in the Computer Based Exam, candidates will be shortlisted for the Skill Test.

 

 

Phase 2: Skill Test

 

After clearing the Computer Based Examination candidates will have to appear in the Skill Test. In this test, the candidates have to transcribed the matter on computer.

The final selection will be on the basis of the performance of candidates in Computer Based Examination and the preference of Posts/ Departments opted by them during Document Verification.
