The AFMC Pune (Armed Forces Medical College) provides an opportunity for those who want to take admission in the MBBS course to become a Doctor. NEET qualified candidates are eligible for AFMC 2018 MBBS Course. The AFMC registration for the MBBS program will begin after the NEET 2018 Result .

Eligibility Criteria for AFMC MBBS:

 

For those who seek ways to get into this college through AFMC Admission, must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

 

 

 The candidate must be an Indian Citizen or originally from Nepal or Bhutan or a person originated from Pakistan or any other foreign country with the intention of permanently settling in India.

 

The candidate should be Unmarried. Also, no marriage is allowed while pursuing the course.

 

 The candidate must be medically fit as per the standards prescribed by the Ministry of Defence.

 

 The age of the candidate should be in between 17 years to 22 years on 31st December of the year of application.

 

 For those who have passed or are in the final years of their B.Sc., the upper age limit is 24 years.

 

 

Academic Qualification:

 

 

 The candidate must have passed the Mathematics subject in the 10th Standard.

 

 The candidate must have completed his/her 12th on regular basis with English, Physics, and Biology. Below are the percentage which must be acquired by the candidate in the Senior Secondary Examination:

 

 Minimum 60% as aggregate in all the 3 Science subjects with minimum 50% individually.

 

 Minimum 50% in the English Subject.

 

 

2. Nursing in Armed Forces Medical College

 

Apart from AFMC MBBS, Nursing Courses are also conducted by the College of Nursing which comes under the Armed Forces Medical College Pune. The College also provides post basic diploma/certificate along with Bachelors and Masters in Nursing.

Pros

 

Every year thousands of students apply for the AFMC Counselling to get admission in this college. The Armed Forces Medical College is the only college in the country which bears almost all expenses of its students.

Fees: The complete tuition fee and the lodging fee will be paid by the Ministry of Defence on behalf of the student.

 

 Food Quality: Along with this, the candidate only has to pay INR 1500 per month for food. The quality of food served is also very good as special attention is given to its nutrition value.

 

 Stipend: Every month, a stipend to buy books, stationery, uniform etc. will be paid to students.

 

 Placement: Talking about the placement, half of the joining batch strength is eligible for a permanent commission, and every single candidate of the batch is eligible for the short service commission (7 years).

 The Exit Bond: For students who are not sure what they want to do in life after MBBS, this might be a threat for their dream of pursuing AFMC MBBS. One has to sign the notorious bond of INR 25 Lakh to join AFMC which states that you have to serve in the forces for a minimum period of 14 years (Short Service Commission) and 20 years (Permanent Commission).

 

For Post-Graduate and Super-Specialty candidates, the exit bond money is INR 28 lakh.

 

From college’s perspective, the bond is because of the expenditure and time that the college has invested in you to serve armed forces.

 Discipline: Discipline is one of the various qualities for which the Armed Forces are famous for. So, you can expect that you have to maintain discipline in the college as well. In AFMC Pune, you will have to attend P.T, Parade etc. and boys have to shave every day.

 

Vacations are twice a year for 15-20 days each. Leave can be availed at any time but only for genuine reasons. After all, you are a medical cadet. With great power comes great responsibility.

 

 Uniform: Each of the candidates has to wear a uniform during working hours. Some might find this against their free-spirited mentality but for the Armed Forces, their uniform is their pride. And you will have to maintain that pride in the college as well.

      There is no OBC quota as such. For AFMC Pune, you should score min. 560 Marks. Last Year (2017) cut-off was 560 -570. Admission is also dependent on your medical fitness that will be assessed at the college.
