Joint Entrance Examination is an all India common entrance exam for facilitating admissions in engineering colleges all over India. The exam is mainly conducted in two phases which are JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

 

The JEE Main Counselling Dates for 2020 will be announced by National Testing Agency (NTA). The counselling will be done through online mode in seven rounds. The candidates who will qualify the JEE Main Exam will be eligible to take part in the counselling process of JEE Main and subsequent process of seat allotment.

JEE Mains 2020 Counselling Eligibility Criteria – Know the Essential Conditions

 

All the JEE Aspirants who will apply for JEE Mains Counselling 2020 will not get admission in IITs or ISM-Dhanbad. The admission to ISM Dhanbad and IITs will be granted to only those candidates who will qualify JEE Advanced 2020 Exam. Below we have provided the details of JEE Main Eligibility Criteria for Paper 1 and Paper 2. Check the details.

 

For Paper 1:

Candidates should have secured above the JEE Main Cut Off 2020 rank for Paper 1.

The candidate either should have secured an aggregate of 75% (70% for SC, ST or PWD) in the qualifying exam or should have secured the position among top 20 percentile successful toppers.

 Candidates should have qualified 12th standard (or equivalent) examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational Subject.

 For admissions into NITs, IIITs, IIEST and other GFTIs, the general candidates should have scored 75% and OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PWD candidates should have secured 65%.

 

 

For Paper 2:

  Candidates should have qualified in JEE Mains 2020 Paper 2.

 Candidates should have had Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry as their subjects in 12th Standard (or equivalent) examination.

 For admissions into NITs, IIITs, IIEST and other GFTIs, the general category candidates should have obtained 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and aggregate 50% marks of the qualifying examination.

 

For Paper 3:

JEE Main Paper 3 qualified candidates are eligible for counselling.

Candidates should have had Mathematics as one of the subjects in 12th Standard (or equivalent) examination.

For admissions into NITs, IIITs, IIEST and other GFTIs, the general category candidates should have obtained 50% marks in Mathematics and aggregate 50% marks of the qualifying examination.

How JoSAA Conducts JEE Mains Counselling 2020?

 

JoSSA will conduct seven rounds of allocation of seats for academic courses offered by the Institution under JoSSA 2020 through JEE Main Online Counselling. The counselling process of JEE Main 2020 comprises of the following steps.

 

STEP 1- Online Registration Process

STEP 2- Online Choice Filling and Locking

STEP 3- JoSAA 2020 Seat Allotment

STEP 4- Acceptance of Seat and Fee payment

STEP 5 -Reporting to the allotted college

 

 

Online Registration Process for JEE Mains Counselling 2020

 

After JEE Main Counselling dates, the first step is JEE Online Registration Process. The candidates can register themselves for IIT JEE Mains Counselling the following steps.

 

 First go to the official website of JoSSA.

 Then click on the login page.

 Now on the login page, enter Mains Counselling 2020 roll number and password.

 Enter the security pin as shown on the screen.

 After successful login, enter all the required details being asked.

 Verify all the details entered on the registration page and then click on ‘Confirm registration’ button.

 

 

List of Important Documents Required for the JEE Mains 2020 Counselling & Seat Allotment

 

The candidates will be required to must carry these documents with them at the time of JEE Mains counselling 2020.

 

JEE Mains Admit Card & Score Card.

 3 passport size photographs.

 Provisional Seat Allotment Letter.

 Photo Identity Card.

 Proof of Seat Acceptance Payment.

 Proof of Date of Birth.

 Mark sheet of Class 12th.

 Category Certificate (if applicable).

 

 

JoSAA 2020 Online Choice Filling Procedure

 

The candidates would fill up their choice in JEE Mains Counselling Form and make their own preference to register for Mains 2020 exam. The steps to register for the online choice filling process is mentioned below.

 

 Visit the official website JoSAA.

 Enter your Mains Roll Number/JEE Advanced 2020 Roll Number and Password.

 Click on the Login button to fill the registration form of JoSAA.

 Online JoSAA 2020 registration form will be displayed on the screen.

 Go to the ‘Candidates Profile’ to check that all the details you entered are correct or not as it is automatically retrieved from JEE Mains.

 Click on ‘Change Password’ to change the Password as it is compulsory.

 Modify contact details by clicking “EDIT CONTACT DETAILS”

 When you are finished with editing, click on ‘Submit Changes’.

 

 

Important Points on JoSAA 2020 Registration and Choice Filling

 

 Confidentiality of Password is solely the responsibility of the candidate and all care must be taken to protect the password.

 Candidates must take a printout of the final locked choices for submission during reporting.

 For security reasons, after finishing your work, kindly click the Logout button, and close all the windows related to your session.

 Candidates are advised to keep changing the Password at frequent intervals.

 

 

JoSAA Seat Allotment- Procedure for Seat Allocation

 

The counselling and seat allotment authority, JoSAA 2020 consider the following factors before allocating the highest possible seat according to candidates’ choices:

 

 Category [GEN, OBC-NCL, SC, etc.] of the candidate.

 All India Rank (AIR) of the candidate in JEE Mains Rank List.

 According to the priority order of choices by the candidates for academic programs and institutes.

  Availability of seats under different seat categories/seat quotas for which the candidate is eligible.

 

Candidates will be informed about JoSSA Seat Allocation, through mail or SMS on their registered email ID and mobile number respectively a few days after Choice Locking.

 

 

Seat Acceptance Fee Payment and Verification of the Documents

 

The candidates will be required to pay the Seat Acceptance fee for the JEE Main Seats through Net Banking or e-Challan.

 

All the documents provided by the candidate will be verified at the reporting centre.

 

After the successful verification of the documents and payment of the fee, a provisional admission letter will be issued to the candidates.

 

The Seat Acceptance fee of JEE Main Counselling 2020 for different Category are described in the table below.

Reporting to the Allotted Institute after JEE Mains Counselling Result

 

After Mains Counselling Result, the candidates must complete all the admission formalities of the institute, get the admission confirmed and begin the academic session. The commencement of classes in the NITs, IIITs, IIEST and other GFTIs will be announced at the right time.

 

This is the last step of JEE Main Counselling 2020 and seat allotment procedure. Candidates will be asked to report to their assigned institutes with original certificates and documentation on the allotted date to avoid cancellation.

JEE Mains Counselling 2020 Rounds and Other Counselling Procedures

 

There are some other counselling process, other than the above-mentioned steps, which are described below.

 

1. Freeze: This option includes the candidates accepting the allotted seats and don’t want to participate in the further rounds of JEE Main counselling.

 

2. Float: The candidates accepting the JEE Mains Seats but wants to apply for further rounds of counselling for higher preferences, select this option.

 

3. Slide: The candidates who accepted the allotted seats but seeking for better option in the same institution, opt for this option. These candidates are considered for further counselling rounds.

 

4. Withdraw of Seats:

 If the candidates want to withdraw their seats, they have to report at the centre before 6th round of allocation of seats.

 After the withdraw option candidates will not be considered for further rounds of counselling.

 After seat acceptance, the fees of seat acceptance will be refunded to the candidates after deduction of Rs. 1000. As a processing charge.

 For withdraw of seats, the candidates have to provide their bank account details and upload the image of cancelled cheque in JPEG/ JPG format.

 The candidates need to provide their and their parents signature in their withdrawal request and report to the reporting centre.

 

 

JEE Mains 2020 Counselling Rounds

 

As mentioned above, there are seven rounds in the counselling process of IIT JEE Mains Exam. These rounds are conducted by the JoSSA. The details of these rounds are mentioned below.

 

1.JEE Main Counselling- Round 1

Based on the JEE Mains rank, the candidates will be selected for the first rounds of JEE Mains Counselling. Those who have allotted seats in this round, have to download Provisional Seat Allotment Letter and report at the reporting centre.

 

2.JEE Main Counselling- Round 2

The seats which will be left vacant after first round of Counselling will be to be filled by the Round 2 of JEE Mains Counselling. The candidates who will be eligible to participate in this round, will have to report at the reporting centre at the allotted date and time to accept or withdrew their seats.

 

3.JEE Main Counselling- Round 3

For further JoSSA Seat Allocation, the candidate opts for this round of counselling.

 

4.JEE Main Counselling- Round 4 

The number of seats filled or available after 3rd round, will be to be filled by the candidates who are eligible for the 4th round of counselling.

 

5.JEE Main Counselling- Round 5

Seats that remain vacant after 4th round will be filled in the 5th round of counselling.

 

6.JEE Main Counselling- Round 6

The number of vacant seats still left will be filled with this round of counselling. The withdrawal or acceptance of seats by candidates can be performed by the candidates.

 

7.JEE Main Counselling- Round 7

This is the last round of counselling. The candidates have to report at the reporting centre for the acceptance of seats. There is no withdrawal of seats in this round.

 

After the 7th round of JoSAA counselling for JEE Main Exam, two CSAB special rounds will be conducted to fill the remaining vacant seats for all NITs, IIITs, IIEST and other GFTIs.
