NEET Chemistry 2019

NEET Last 5 Years Papers

In this informative blog, we will talk about the mysterious chemistry, the chemical mystery!!

Hereby we are talking about the Important Topics of chemistry in NEET 2019, along with Marking Weightage.

You must be knowing that, whether a student is preparing for engineering entrances like IIT-JEE or for pre-medical examinations like NEET, AIIMS or JIPMER, there are common textbooks of chemistry i.e. NCERT chemistry textbook (likewise, it’s also for physics).

It needs to be studied and followed by both, the PCB studying as well as PCM studying students. At both the stages, i.e. at the level of 10+2 boards as well as, at the level of competitive examinations like engineering entrances and pre-medical entrances.

But on the contrary to the above-mentioned aspect, it must be noted that the important topics of chemistry and physics as well as their marking weightage, varies in both engineering entrances and pre-medical entrances.

But as we are inclined towards the chemistry here, so let’s dive deeper into it!

Chapter wise weightage of NEET Chemistry

Here at this level of NEET exam, there are three broader parts of chemistry needed to be studied namely Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.

But in order to reflect upon the important topics of NEET chemistry 2019 and its marking weightage, we will take up all the topics aggregately, arranged down the table.

Here in this table, we will look into the various factors of NEET Question Paper 2018, chemistry portion, like:

A number of questions asked in the chemistry portion of NEET 2018, from each prescribed topics.

Total marks hold by each topic.

Deriving Important NEET 2019 Chemistry Topics

In chemistry portion of NEET Syllabus, there are a total of 28 topics and the distribution of questions from these topics have kept changing as per the changes made in examination formats, from time to time.

Since both the NEET examination experts and the major coaching institutes derive different statistical speculations, by considering statistics of past examination.

So, let us also dive into the past NEET examination pattern, and the number of questions asked in those corresponding years.

A brief sneak-peek into the past of NEET (2003 to 2018)

Here, we would like to begin a brief sneak-peek from 2003 to 2018, segregated on the basis of examination format, which we have provided below: -

From 2003 to 2009 NEET examination was known as AIPMT and there used to be a single examination carrying 50 questions from chemistry. Same from biology and physics as well, making it a total of 200 questions.

In 2010 the examination format of NEET (then known as AIPMT) changed and the students were tested through two examination, Prelims and Mains. This very format of the examination was in practice till 2012, where 50 questions were asked from every three subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry and Biology, in each of these examinations.

Now the formats of NEET examination that we know today was started back in 2013, with 45 questions from every 3 subjects, a total of 180 were asked within the time frame of 180 minutes.

You would also be surprised to know that some changes were made in the subject matter of some prescribed topics, leading to two major differences as mentioned below: -

The density of questions being framed from important topics of NEET chemistry as well as the other two subjects shifted a little, due to the above-mentioned reasons.

Now as the important topics of NEET chemistry, NEET physics and biology changed the Marking Weightage of important topics in NEET also changed

Now having mentioned the details of NEET chemistry important topics and marking weightage, let us again look into the statistics, in order to get an idea about the number of questions expected to be asked in each topic of NEET chemistry.

Here in the table mentioned above, we have taken the total number of questions asked in NEET from 2003 to 2018(it’s total 315 questions), as this format was set in 2013 and is still prevalent.

Even the same format and same pattern will be followed in NEET 2019, though NTA is conducting it for the first time

Now having considered all statistics from different angles, you can conclude which topics are important in chemistry for NEET 2019 Preparation of yours!!
