How to fill IIT JAM Admission Form 2026? Procedure to Take Admission in IITs, IISc
The admission in IISc Bangalore and IITs will be given on the basis of all India merit list of the JAM Exam. You can check the IIT JAM 2026 Counselling procedure to get admission in IITs & IISc below.
Step 1 – Visit the official website and log in through enrollment ID and password.
Step 2 – Enter the required details such as choice of programs, the order of preferences, education qualification, aggregate CGPA, category, etc.
Step 3 – After filling all the details, you have to pay the IIT JAM admission fee of INR 18,000 - 32,000.
Note:-
IIT JAM Admission fees will be paid through online mode (credit/debit card or net banking) only, challan payment is not accepted.
The fee is non-refundable.

Documents such as Aadhar Card, Ration Card, Driving License, College/ Institute/ School ID, Bank Passbook, PAN card, Mark sheets are not considered as Nationality Certificate.

Important Details About the Required Document: -
Candidates who got promoted without a marksheet can submit the promotion certificate in place of the marksheet. However, the promotion certificate or a document accompanying the promotion certificate duly signed by the Head of the Institute must mention the subjects taken in that semester/year, to evaluate the MEQ requirements for admission to a specific program.
If you have already submitted all the required documents, then there is no need to upload anything again.
You need to submit all the documents together (including the documents you submitted earlier). The only exception is for the students in the final year/semester of their program.
If you don't have the final year/semester's document, then you can submit an undertaking in the specified format.
You can also update your academic records if you filled them incorrectly or incompletely earlier.
If you do not submit all the required documents (including final year/semester's document or equivalent undertaking) by the last date, then your application will be considered incomplete.

Some important points regarding IIT JAM Counselling 2026
If you haven’t uploaded a valid category certificate till the last date declared by the official website, then your application status will be shown as "defect".
No submissions will be accepted after the last date.
If you fail to submit a valid category certificate then you will be considered in the General category for the admission process.
At the time of joining, a valid nationality certificate must also be submitted to the respective institute.
All the information regarding the admission procedure is sent to your registered email address and mobile number.
A fixed number of seats in the institutions will be reserved for applicants belonging to various categories.
Candidates seeking admission under categories like SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD will have to provide the certificate issued by the proficient authority.
IIT JAM Admission List 2026
Every year, the organizing institute releases three IIT JAM Admission lists during the counselling process. The admission list will be made according to the IIT JAM merit list and total seats.
IIT JAM 2026 First Admission List
IIT Bombay will release the Counselling Result for first admission list after the completion of JAM Admission Form filling process . If you find your name on the list and want to take admission to the allotted college, then you have to pay the fees and submit the acceptance letter.

How is the IIT JAM Counselling Procedure 2026 Done?
Here, we are sharing a few points to make you aware of the Counselling procedure.
Once you offer a seat, you can choose from the following actions –
Accept and Freeze: You want to keep the seat offered and do not wish to update any further.
Accept with the Upgrade: Choosing this action will reserve the seat and enable the candidate to upgrade the seat in further rounds.
Reject with Quit: Choosing this option will reject the offered seat and not considered for admission in further rounds.
After selecting first two options, it means you want to reserve the seat. You will have to pay a fee of Rs 15000/- (General /OBC-NCL) or Rs 7500/- (SC/ST/PwD category Applicants) to confirm the seat booking.
If you choose to "Reject and Quit", an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number to confirm the action.
The details of the application fee are given below. The application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

Important Note-
Applicants who receive the seat from their higher preference list don’t need to pay again to reserve the seat.
If you cancel the seat during the second round, then you can choose the withdrawal option. The IIT JAM Admission Fees will be refunded to your account after deducting Rs 1000/- processing fee.

Things you must know after filling the IIT JAM Admission Form 2026
All applicants who got an offer in Round 2 (either Upgraded-Offer or New/Fresh offer) should exercise one of the three options available when they log into JOAPS.
All applicants who got the fresh/ new offer in the second IIT JAM Admission List 2024 should read the instructions about the option carefully. After choosing the option, it will not be changed.
At the time of admission, all candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate from the medical practitioner/ medical board constituted in the prescribed form.
IIT JAM Admission Procedure 2026 for Other Institutes
Other than IITs and IISc, there are many institutes (NITs and CFTIs) that offer MSc courses through IIT JAM. If you have a low JAM Rank, then you can apply for these institutes through CCMN Counselling 2026.
No. of other institutes: 22 (20 NITs and 2 CFTIs)
No. of seats: 3000
Note –
The eligibility criteria are different to get admission in NITs.
No candidate will be automatically considered for admission.
