Ques. What is the idea behind the launch of “Visit India Year”?
Ans.  At that time, it was agreed to designate 2015 as “Visit India Year” in China and designate 2016 as “Visit China Year” in India. The idea of “Visit India Year” was endorsed by the two countries during the visit of the Chinese President, Xi Jinping to Delhi in September 2014.

Under this, the two countries will carry out a series of promotional activities to boost two-way tourism inflow and strengthen people to people bonds.

Welcoming this decision, Rajeev Kohli, vice president, Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) stated, “IATO welcomes this initiative and hopes to focus on high spending Chinese travellers. Although sentiments are positive, today the ground reality is different. We are hoping to improve the same and would like to focus on high spending Chinese travellers.”
